Cesc Fabregas...sublime

What's going on? So my Arsenal pride is in full effect! Who else witnessed Cesc Fabregas' amazing run to goal earlier today? simply...sublime. I may be overreaching, but Cesc was impressive today, so was Van Persie. Anyway, today is my roommate, Tayo's birthday. We are both avid Arsenal FC fans and players of the game and I thought I should make him a shirt. So, here's what I came up with. Hope you like.

P.S. I'm having a lot of fun painting/designing! And if you like this Cesc tee shirt, you can email me at ebun.olaloye@gmail.com and request one and I will make it.

Wow, I made this shirt in JULY! and I cannot believe that I haven't posted this yet. smh @ me. My apologies. Here we have a shirt with Didier Drogba aka the prodigious elephant that I made for a female Drogba fan who was attending the Chelsea v A.C. Milan game (I believe it was) in the summer. Hope you like it....enjoy

(I'm gonna try this new layout, you know, image first, words last. let's see how it works)

Futbol vs Football

I know this post is going to cause a stir, and rightfully so: discourse is good. So as a fan of both American Football and futbol (soccer) I have to say this: Futbol is a much more enjoyable game to watch (and play) than American Football for a number of reasons.

First of all, there is an inherent finesse to the game of soccer that I believe does not exist in American Football. Even if you don't watch soccer often or at all, whenever you see a clip, you are amazed at the things that soccer players can do by themselves. For instance, I've "wowed" people just by myself on the corner of the street or in my alleyway juggling the soccer ball and doing tricks. I'm yet to see someone do something breathtaking by themselves with a football. Usually, you are wowed by a running back juking the crap out of a linebacker or safety or a wide receiver making a leaping catch over a cornerback. As amazing as it is to see someone get "Mossed" or Ray Lewis knock the wind out of Ochocinco, I find it more amazing to see a freestyler do an around the world 10x in a row or to see Ronaldinho juggling the ball solo.

Now, most people who I've debated this with always bring up the fact that in a futbol game you will be lucky if you see two or three goals scored. And to that I say that if you watch futbol, as a true fan of the game, it isn't about the goals. Goals are great to see, but I've watched some games that ended in nil-nil draws that have been far more entertaining than games with two or three goals scored. I doubt any American Football fan would leave the stadium happy if the game they just attended ended 0-0. Furthermore, I feel as though there is a culture that surrounds futbol that isn't found, or if so, very little in American football. If you were to take a journey to the most remote parts of the earth, what game will you most likely find the kids playing? you guessed it, futbol. Most importantly though, the biggest sporting event of a single sport is the FIFA World Cup. Some might rebut and say, "well that's because it involves all countries" and my response would be that that is representative of futbol's appeal on a global scale.

Ultimately, they are both great sports that have die-hard fans the world over. I choose futbol. What about you?

Let's Face it...

So I didn't end up going to philly to play soccer, I stayed to work on the painting. It's been a lot of work and I think it's coming together nicely, but I'm still nowhere close to being done. I looked at the painting from afar ( a necessary step to really determine how it actually looks because you are so close to the canvas painting that you need to shift focus once in a while to accurately judge your progress) and I'm not really feeling the background. It needs a lot of work, I might scrap it altogether, what do you think? Here's what it looks like now:

Zlatan is coming along nicely

I've been putting in a lot of work on this "Zlatan experiment" and I think it's coming along nicely. I'm on pace to complete it tonight, but I think I'm gonna take a much needed break and go to philly to go play soccer tonight. Enjoy.

Zlatan is coming....

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, things have just been really busy, I've just been trying to work and still do all the other design commissions I have to do. It isn't easy! What makes it worth it is the fact that I enjoy every minute of it.

So I was "lamenting" to my sister about how I'm not that great of a painter, and I honestly mean it. I consider myself a designer first and foremost and I've been blessed with an artistic ability, but painting is something I picked up and never formally learned. In order to prove, or disprove (only time will tell) my sentiment, I decided to actually make a "painting" on canvas, instead of t-shirts as I've been accustomed to. It is of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the newest tenant at the Nou Camp. My goal is to make this the first painting of Ibrahimovic in a Barcelona jersey in the whole world! Here's what I have so far, I'll be updating it as I progress, enjoy.

Thierry Henry

Today I have a shirt that I made over the weekend. I think it's sooo dope, not tooting my horn or anything, I just really like the way it turned out. It's a painting of Thierry Henry my all time favorite player (seems all my favorite footballers are french, hmm...) I loved the pic because it shows so much emotion, and that's what I wanted to convey, his clenching his fist after scoring against Real Madrid. Classic stuff. Onto the pic, enjoy.

P.S. Don't forget to email me at ebun.olaloye@gmail.com if you want something made! Anything at all! Cheers

There's God, and there's Zizou

Tonight, or rather, early this morning, I bring you guys another tee featuring another player that I have admired since I was a child: Zinedine Zidane. If you are familiar with the beautiful game, I don't even have to spell out what Zizou meant to football. His technical ability is second to none and he is a true master of the game. The Messi tee said "God's gift to football" but that quote wouldn't fit with Zizou. If you have ever been privileged to watch Zidane play, there was something almost divine about the way he played the game. Cheers to one of the best to ever step foot on a pitch. Here's the shirt. Enjoy.

You Play To Fight the Idea of Losing

So I had an extra tee just laying around and decided to paint something on it...I had always wanted to make an Eric Cantona tee because he is one of my favorite footballers of all time. Apart from being a great player, Cantona had style and panache and brought a certain flair to the game that I don't think has been replicated since (not even Ronaldo). Plus this guy has some of the best quotes in football, and I took one of my favorites (the title of this post) and made it into a tee.

I took pictures during each stage of painting so you can see how it all came together. Enjoy.

The Messi-ah is here

As promised, here is the design for the Lionel Messi tee. This one is a hand-painted one off for my good friend. I spent a lot of time on this and also had a lot of fun painting this one. It's the first "serious" painting I've done in a long time and I was relieved to find that I didn't really lose much touch. On the side of Messi reads "El regalo de Dios para el fĂștbol" which translates to "God's gift to Football" I hope you guys like. don't forget to stay tuned for more designs coming soon. Onto the pics

The Dream is here....

So I have pretty big dreams that will take time to actualize. One of my dreams is starting my own t-shirt line and I finally stopped making excuses for why I couldn't do it and just took a step of faith and went with it. What you guys saw about a month ago in the "Live. Breathe. Futbol" shirt is the first of many designs to come. The shirts came in yesterday and I had a big smile on my face when I opened the box. It's one thing to have an idea, it's another thing entirely to implement it. Here is my idea implemented and it feels good. The shirts are for sale for $15 and I'll be setting up a google checkout shortly for you guys who are all over the world. Here are some pics of the shirt. Enjoy.

The Elections are over!

So the polls for the "what player would you like to see on a t-shirt" are now closed. Based on the results, the following players will be "immortalized" on t-shirts soon. I will begin focusing on their designs now. This doesn't mean that other players won't eventually make it to a t-shirt, just that I'll do these first. And they are:

Ikechukwu Uche

what's going on world? hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. So I caught the replay of the Nigeria vs. France Int'l Friendly last night and man, I must say that Ikechukwu Uche is one special player. His tenacity, style of play and quick ball movements can turn him into a star like Jay Jay Okocha was if he plays at the right clubs and gets the right exposure. But he'll definitely be getting his own shirt designed by me. So look out for that soon.

P.S. I'm working on the player shirts now, I have a couple done now, will be posting those in a few days so stay tuned for that. peace.

Ronaldo? Messi? Kaka? Torres?

What's going on world? So it seems people are interested in seeing more player-themed t-shirts. If that's the case, I will no doubt accomodate that. My question is what players would you guys like to see more of? I have set up a poll on the right side of this page ---->
Vote (you can vote for multiple players at once) to see your favorite player make it onto a t-shirt!

What's going on world, so if you have been following the blog since its inception, you should know by now that I am a futbol (soccer) fanatic. Some of the previous shirts posted had soccer stars on them and that will still continue. What I have here today is a design that I had in my sketchbook for a while and is finally being brought to life. At school, we have a pickup "league" if you will, where we play EVERYDAY of the week. I can't always make it out, but whenever I can, it's a good time. And that's what influenced this design. It seems that we live and breathe futbol. We all have a deep love for the game that sometimes leads to thunderous arguments (e.g. Barca v Man U final). Our passion, our commitment and love for the game. This shirt embodies all that. They are on sale for $15, please e-mail me if you would like one. I will be setting up a shopping cart in the next few hours for your conveinence. They are available to everyone around the world, all you have to do is pay shipping costs if you are not local. More designs will be coming out soon, as well as a nice modification of this one (you'll love it!). Here's what it looks like:
It is available in S-XL. Anything larger, please don't be afraid to ask and I will be able to accomodate you.

A Forceful return...

This is a shirt I made about a year ago (jeez, can't believe it's been that long) and I finally decided to post it. It is Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United.
