So I have pretty big dreams that will take time to actualize. One of my dreams is starting my own t-shirt line and I finally stopped making excuses for why I couldn't do it and just took a step of faith and went with it. What you guys saw about a month ago in the "Live. Breathe. Futbol" shirt is the first of many designs to come. The shirts came in yesterday and I had a big smile on my face when I opened the box. It's one thing to have an idea, it's another thing entirely to implement it. Here is my idea implemented and it feels good. The shirts are for sale for $15 and I'll be setting up a google checkout shortly for you guys who are all over the world. Here are some pics of the shirt. Enjoy.

So you guys will get a kick out of this story. In the post before this one (A Homeland for us) I posted the shirt I made for my boss. I thought I did a great job and was excited to show my boss...he liked it too, except for one little mistake that changes EVERYTHING...can you spot it? ok, good...so I used Google Translate to translate the text to Arabic so I could copy that for the shirt, the font was too small, so I copied and pasted it into MS Word and enlarged it...unknown to me, MS Word flipped the characters. What's the big deal? Arabic is read from right to left (I knew that). So basically, I gave him a shirt that meant nothing lol (he could've held it up to a mirror) Anyway, I made him another one, and here it is. Maybe I should learn Arabic so I won't make such a dumb mistake anymore. Enjoy.

My boss had asked me to make a t-shirt for him for the loooooooongest time, and I finally got around to doing it. I like making shirts like these that have meaningful words to them and are sentimentally charged. The words on the shirt are in Arabic and translate to read "Everyone has a homeland...except us, our homeland lives in us." For anyone who is knowledgeable about the situation concerning Palestine and Israel, you will appreciate the profundity of the statement, whether you are Palestinian or not.

So the polls for the "what player would you like to see on a t-shirt" are now closed. Based on the results, the following players will be "immortalized" on t-shirts soon. I will begin focusing on their designs now. This doesn't mean that other players won't eventually make it to a t-shirt, just that I'll do these first. And they are:

what's going on world? hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. So I caught the replay of the Nigeria vs. France Int'l Friendly last night and man, I must say that Ikechukwu Uche is one special player. His tenacity, style of play and quick ball movements can turn him into a star like Jay Jay Okocha was if he plays at the right clubs and gets the right exposure. But he'll definitely be getting his own shirt designed by me. So look out for that soon.

As a designer, you go through many iterations before arriving at a "final" result. And even then, more can be done to improve the design. This was the first thing I learned in my first year of architecture. Never say you are finished. Always explore. Thus, here is a revised version of the Live. Breathe. Futbol t-shirt I posted a few days ago. I like this design better and this seems to be the one that gets produced.

What's going on world? So I was thinking...ideas are powerful. You're probably thinking "duh" but seriously, everything that is, began as an idea. Cars, airplanes, ships, computers e.t.c. all came about by someone having an idea they believed could make the world a better place. The car, with its engine, electronic systems, safety devices, wheels, and what have you is the product of the simple idea of getting people from point to point quicker.

I just digged this shirt out from the depths of my closet. I completely forgot I had it. I made it my senior year of high school as a promotion for a fashion show that a friend and I used to do. The idea "Models Only" came from the fact that so many people were interested in modeling our designs for the fashion show that we couldn't accomodate everybody...so we needed models. What I like more than anything, however, is the font. It almost looks as if it was printed, but it was completely done by hand with a paint brush. I wonder if I could pull that off today. Hope you like.

What's going on world, so if you have been following the blog since its inception, you should know by now that I am a futbol (soccer) fanatic. Some of the previous shirts posted had soccer stars on them and that will still continue. What I have here today is a design that I had in my sketchbook for a while and is finally being brought to life. At school, we have a pickup "league" if you will, where we play EVERYDAY of the week. I can't always make it out, but whenever I can, it's a good time. And that's what influenced this design. It seems that we live and breathe futbol. We all have a deep love for the game that sometimes leads to thunderous arguments (e.g. Barca v Man U final). Our passion, our commitment and love for the game. This shirt embodies all that.
