what's up world! As you may or may not know, I go to school at Temple University in Philadelphia. Recently, I submitted this blog to be considered for a feature in the News paper as one of the "15 Best Student Artists" at Temple. It is not a rank, but rather just celebrating student art culture at Temple, and I am very lucky to be part of the group. I am really grateful for this, it may be small, but all great things have humble beginnings. Click Here to check out my feature. Click here for full feature of all 15 student artists

In other news, the final model is almost complete. The design phase is essentially done, I just have to glue things down and cut a few more things out, hopefully that can be done by tonight, because I have gotten very little sleep this week and it's starting to wear at me, BUT! I will keep going! I must! 'til next time, au revoir!

The Final Model!!!!

Wow, it's been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG day. I got to the studio around noon today and didn't leave to come home til 11pm. I sat at my desk for 11 hours straight, tracing the cardboard templates onto the MDF cutouts for my final model. Then I go to the woodshop around 4pm, and all the band saws are being used :( Great! Luckily, I was able to get a hold of a jigsaw and a thesis student lent me a Dremel sander (thanks Nick!) and it was ball game from then. I was able to cut all the pieces out with the jigsaw and then sand them down to perfection with the Dremel. All in all a very productive day, I would say. Onto the pics...

So a good friend of mine just started this blog called The Invisible Power Ranger. Not only is the name cool, but the blog is very cool also. It's been bookmarked and I can't wait for the site to grow and transform into something incredibly interesting. The foundation is definitely there. Click Here to checkout the blog.

Here are two shirts I made two days ago for two friends of mine to take on their trip to Miami. You'd have to know both guys to understand what the shirts mean, but here they are anyway. Enjoy.

Sorry for the hiatus, but we, or rather I, am back

Part of the reason I haven't blogged in a while is because I felt I didn't have anything tangible to post. I'm still yet to fully document all my work from last semester, and I'm already half-way through this semester. Anyway, here's some new stuff. Due in no small part to the work I have been exposed to lately, I've developed a penchant for photo collages and chronophotography. i.e. David Hockney and Eadweard Muybridge. I've been really fascinated by their work and hopefully I can find a way to fit it into that "seamless, enjoyable whole" that this blog is about. Enjoy.

The first image from the top is simply me raising up my leg from the ground. The second is a drawing done in Rhinoceros and Illustrator based on the vectors, range of motion and profile of my leg performing said motion.

JOINT MODEL

Here is my "joint" model. For this assignment, we had to build a model that had "joints" that were based off a previous assignment (I will post later). My "joint" is the seam between light and dark, inside and out. Hope you like.

ARCH FALL08....select works from my first semester

wheew! that's how I feel right now (besides the fact that I'm a bit sick and extremely exhausted). This semester has been stressful, exhilerating, physically and mentally draining. However, it is DEFINITELY the best semester I've had at Temple so far, academically-speaking. My GPA may not be the highest I've gotten (I still don't know what it will be), but I've learned the most and I've definitely been the most creative. The pictures below are just a select few from the many from this semester. They don't show the amount of time and effort put into each one. I hope you can appreciate it because I put everything I had (at the time) into every single one. Nothing is half-assed. Without further adieu...

STUDIO: FINAL MODEL

WALL PRESENTATION

PERSPECTIVE:
this drawing is ridiculous. Ridiculous in the sense that it took forever to do. I hope you can see how many lines are on it. I had to use colors, or else I would've gone crazy. Here it is:

I hope you like it. I will be posting more of my work shortly. Feedback is definitely appreciated!
